Position Information:

Clackamas River Water (CRW) is seeking a qualified candidate to join our team as a Senior Water Works Mechanic. CRW has earned a reputation for providing high-quality drinking water to nearly 13,000 retail and commercial customers that serve a population of approximately 50,000 in addition to providing wholesale water to neighboring water systems.

Essential Duties:

  • The Senior Water Works Mechanic provides technical expertise in the unique components and characteristics that make up the water distribution system.
  • Oversees and ensures all activities of the Waterworks Mechanics are performed accurately and safely in compliance with applicable codes, OSHA standards and District policies for the construction and maintenance of CRW's water distribution system.
  • May be required to directly perform the full range of water works mechanic duties.
  • Executes a variety of administrative and project management activities that include but are not limited to plan review, job scheduling, interagency coordination, material requisitioning, inventory control, service orders and job costing.
  • Review project designs for constructability.
  • Provides technical expertise and guidance which includes mentoring, support and peer view for other waterworks mechanics.
  • Performs Direct Responsible Charge (DRC) and on-call duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED,
  • possess an Oregon Health Authority (OHA) Drinking Water Program Water Distribution Operator (WDO)
  • Water Distribution Level 3 Certification with the ability to obtain a Level 4 Certification within two (2) years from date of hire or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Demonstrated experience in a lead role or as program coordinator for at least two areas common to water system construction and distribution maintenance programs.

 

Special Requirements:

The qualified candidate will have the ability to pass pre-employment exams, demonstrate the ability to perform heavy physical work that includes, but is not limited to, lifting up to 50 lbs., digging, kneeling and working in adverse weather conditions. Upon hire, a valid Oregon driver’s license and satisfactory driving record are required. Possession or ability to obtain, from date of hire, a CDL Class A license within 18 months and Cross Connection Control Specialist certification within 12 months are also required.
