Rainbow Water District Honored with SDAO Outstanding Special District Program Award

Rainbow Water District was presented with the Special Districts Association of Oregon (SDAO) Outstanding Special District Program Award during the 2022 SDAO Annual Conference Awards Ceremony held virtually on February 12, 2022.

This award recognizes special districts for innovative projects and programs, outstanding safety, public information, public involvement in a district decision-making process, and outstanding achievement. Nominations were open to all Oregon special districts and collected throughout the year. The SDAO Awards Committee reviewed the submissions and selected award recipients using a scoring matrix.

Rainbow Water District was selected to receive the Outstanding Special District Program Award in the 6 to 25 employees category for their support of neighboring small rural water systems, offering them the benefits of a larger utility with full-time professional staff. They have entered into several intergovernmental agreements (IGAs) with these neighboring districts and associations to provide billing and customer service, engineering and planning, construction and repair with on-call emergency response, and total system operation. These public and private water systems work together to share knowledge and resources to collectively offer better services to their communities.
